Registration and Transportation

Registration: Our puppies are registered with the National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas and the American Bay Dog Registry. Some of the pups are "grade full blood Catahoulas" but not registered. We will usually have the application for registration papers ready for you at the time of pick up. If the papers are not yet in our possession from the registry or association, they will be mailed to you within thirty days if at all possible.
Some of our puppies are produced out of a registered sire and a "grade" or non-registered, but out of a full blood Catahoula, dam (female,) that has shown outstanding performance and a registered stud dog. At times we may offer for sale some special cross bred Catahoula pups out of our bear, lion, raccoon hunting dogs or herding breeds.
How to buy your Rancho Santiago Catahoula

Reserve your puppy before whelping with a $100.00 nonrefundable deposit or to buy and hold for delivery an 8 week old or older puppy and remove that dog from being available for sale Rancho Santiago needs your nonrefundable 1/2 of the total purchase price as a forfeit deposit.
Why a nonrefundable 1/2 of the total price? ...because this pup will be held only for you as the buyer and will not be sold to anyone else for any price. If a buyer makes a 1/2 nonrefundable deposit for Rancho Santiago to remove a dog from market and the buyer does not complete the purchase agreement with total payment and pickup of the dog our opportunity to sell this pup to other prospective buyers will have been lost as they have moved on to purchase another dog.
When picking up your puppy at Rancho Santiago the full payment is due before leaving the ranch.
When shipping a pup the shipping costs and payment in full is due from the buyer before the puppy leaves Rancho Santiago.
Payment Methods:
A bank wire transfer of funds is preferred and cost about the same as a certified check.
Certified Check or Cash payment accepted.
Address, details, and instructions for payment are provided at the time a pup is purchased.
Transportation

Rancho Santiago does not transport puppies to buyers because we are occupied full time raising and training Catahoulas and mules. Hopefully, instead of running the road, we are hog hunting and working cattle from a mule's saddle with good Catahoulas helping us work.
Shipment by air to buyers is just not practical due to the remote location of Rancho Santiago. The nearest air shipment port for dogs from Rancho Santiago is 300 miles one way in Ft Worth, Texas. If you or a friend cannot pick up your Catahoula at the ranch, we suggest you use a professional dog transporter. Transporters can be located and contacted on the internet.

Arrangements for Professional Dog Transportation
Payment for transportation is between the buyer and the transporter. We will place your Catahoula dog with the transporter in excellent sound health condition. Liability issues concerning the condition of the Catahoula during and after shipment are between the buyer and the transporter because we cannot be held accountable for what happens to the dog when it is out of our care. One of the many professional transportation people that we have received good service from is Redwing Hound Haulers.
Vaccinations, Deworming, and Health Certificate

Puppies may be picked up from Rancho Santiago when they are 6 to 8 weeks old. Please make an appointment to come get your pup either by phone or email. We will give you detailed directions to the ranch at that time.
You can expect that your puppy will have had dewormings every 2 weeks and at least one five-way vaccination and 4 parvo booster vaccinations by the time you get your puppy. A written record of these dewormings and vaccinations will be given to you when you get your Catahoula pup. A Health Certificate from a veterinarian will be provided.
