Black Gold's Biography and Breeding Fees in Word (3MB)

Mule Ranch Romeo

To bring the mare into heat, mares are "teased" using our miniature stallion. Some mares hide signs of heat from a jack. Immediately prior to breeding, the mare is teased safely by the stud jack, Black Gold. The mare is secured in the breeding chute that protects both the mare and jack, bred with the jack haltered and in full control. After breeding the mare is walked to aide conception.

We use a breeding chute for the safety of the mare and jack. The miniature stallion teases mares into full heat. When the mare shows the signs she is ready to breed she is teased by the jack. If the jack indicates the mare is receptive she is secured in the breeding chute. The breeding process is quick and safe. The mare is rechecked for signs of heat or pregnancy in 3 weeks. Now, we can dream for the next 11 months about another great mule colt by "Black Gold."

BREEDING POLICY: To insure understanding between breeder and mare owner.

1. $325 breeding fee to mares only. No jennets bred because some jack studs will quit breeding mares if they are bred to a jennet.

2. $325 fee paid in full in advance of breeding when the mare arrives at the ranch.

3. Mare must have a valid coggins test and be in excellent health.

4. Mare Care is $8.00 per day without a colt and $10.00 per day with colt (wet), with full payment before mare leaves the ranch.

5. If the mare does not become pregnant with the first breeding we offer a return breeding to the same mare, during the same breeding season, at no additional breeding charge. The return breeding does not go over to the next breeding season nor can it be applied to another mare. Additional mare care $8.00 per day without a colt and $10.00 per day with colt (wet).

6. Emergency veterinary care billed to the owner of the mare. Attempt to reach the owner of the mare in advance of emergency vet treatment if possible.
