Chickasaw Indian's Jake is 16+ years old. Jake is an easy to mount 14.2 hands tall.
Personally, I have gotten a little long in the tooth and my knees told me that
it sure is easier to get on and off my 14.2 hands mule than those 16 hand mules I rode as a kid.

Dr. Jim riding his "Chicksaw Indian's Jake" in the Gila Wilderness hunting bear. Check out the steep angle of this down hill mountain ride. Jake does not make a false step.

When you want to go somewhere just point Jake in the direction and ask Jake with a kissing sound of the lips and he will go. Don't ask him to go up the steep side of a Canyon unless you really want to go there.

Coon jumps on command ... "Get Over".
A mule Jake's size can carry Dr. Jim's 6' tall and 240 pounds all day long in the rough country.
However, Jake's big claim to fame is his safe safe safe dependable calm personality and behavior.
Under my saddle for 10 years, Jake has earned my trust & respect.

Parades and public events are very risky potentially dangerous events ... even life threatening in a wreck. Who does Rancho Santiago rely on as our safety outrider mule that is calm in all storms ... Chickasaw Indian's JAKE! |
|
In this picture "Jake" is shepherding two of our wagons in the huge National Cowboy Symposium parade. Jake's job is to stop a run away team, gently move people back out of danger, and to be the dependable mule that people can pet safely. Jake is the representative of the mule world to the public that actually know very little about the superiority of mules. Chickasaw Indian's Jake is a worthy ambassador. |

"So just what is so special about Chickasaw Indian's Jake, his color?
... he sure does handle and ride nice and calm" stated the gentleman from New Mexico. Dr. Jim replied "Jake has not been saddled or ridden in 10 months so you are the first person to ride him and you love his easy handle and calmness that is what is so special about Jake. This mule is dependable, calm, easy going personality because Jake has years of quality experience."
"What price can we put on a one of a kind "Jake" mule that keeps us out of the emergency room,
out of a wheel chair & in the mountains instead of the grave yard?
