More News from LaNette and Betsy

Oct 10 2008

Hi Jim,

Well I got a new contract that requires me to do a rush job on it. I need my weekends to get it finished so I won't be going to the Sporting Day after all.

Betsy is doing fine. Several weeks ago, I saw her cantering in the pasture (for the first time since she's been here), so she's over her little accident. She didn't eat much while she was sore and she got thinner. I got a little nervous that someone might call animal control on me. So, I put her on a weight builder. That stuff must taste great because when she sees me drive up after a day at work she beats me to the barn. You wouldn't believe the shine it puts on a coat.

Two weekends ago, I hitched her up with my horse to see how they would do as a team. My horse, Zeke, is super 'doggy slow' so I figured Betsy (who likes to move out at a walk) might not be the best fit for him. Well, after 20 minutes Betsy had the horse figured out and walked step for step with him. I was also able to get the horse to move out a little bit better (and easier now that he had a companion) and Betsy adjusted accordingly. So, she is super savvy at the the team thing. This will make my very first team -that I own- for me. Something of a dream come true actually.

I still have plans on attending the 50th anniversary Corpus Christi to San Antonio wagon train. I haven't figured out who I'm taking or in what manner I'll travel it but, it is in my schedule for vacation time.

Hope you are doing well,
LaNette
